deeply grounded,
intertwined,
exposed,
growing
above and around one another
strong,
they prop us up
support,
note,
in the knowing of that past
accept,
admire,
step on,
discover infinite potential,
we are handed a permission slip
to grow
from them;
some roots hundreds of years old
some we find around us,
close,
rough,
wrinkled,
a legacy of callouses,
radiant.
